The Portuguese ship Sao Jose was carrying a royal treasure of king Philip iii when it sank on the reef of the coast of Mozambique in 1622. The ship was attacked by Dutch and British east India company. The wreck remain hidden for almost 400 years until discovered in 2005 by Portuguese marine archaeology company arqueonautas. The discovery yielded over 24000 silver reales coins from a variety of mints and denominations representing the remains of the Spice Trade and once great empires.
